Rona Cherry, Principal

Rona Cherry

Rona Cherry brings over 25 years of publishing experience to each assignment. She has served as Vice President/New Magazine Development for major publishing companies including The New York Times, the Golf Digest Companies and General Media International.

In recent years, she’s focused on working with nonprofits and entrepreneurial companies, leveraging years of journalistic experience and expertise to develop and deliver programs to meet each clients’ goals and objectives. She brings a journalist’s eye to every assignment along with a proven ability to take projects from concept to successful completion.

Rona began her New York career as a reporter for The Wall Street Journal. She then worked as a Newsweek editor, a reporter for The New York Times, and executive editor of Glamour magazine. With particular expertise in health communications, Rona developed and served as Editor-in-Chief of several award-winning national health publications—Longevity, Fitness and Golf Digest Woman magazines. She has also provided a broad range of consulting services for a variety of wellness-oriented nonprofits.

She has written for numerous web and print publications including The New York Times Sunday Magazine, The New York Times Book Review, Ladies Home Journal, Vegetarian Times, Beliefnet.com, NYCitywoman.com, and others. She co-authored The World of American Business, (Harper & Row) and Woman in the Year 2000 (Arbor House).

Rona has served on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Magazine Editors and has been a judge for the National Magazine Awards, the Interactive Media Awards, the James Beard Foundation Journalism Awards, and others.

She received a M.S. degree from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and an B.S. degree from American University. She has served as an adjunct at the New School for Social Research and for several years has been mentoring young journalists through American University’s School of Communication Alumni-Student Mentoring Program.
